Jean-Louis Fournier is a French writer, journalist, and filmmaker born on May 14, 1947, in Bourg-en-Bresse, Ain, France. He studied literature in Lyon and began his career in journalism as a reporter for Le Nouvel Observateur.
Fournier has written several books, many of which are memoirs that draw from his own experiences as a parent and caregiver for his children with disabilities. His most famous book, "Où on va, papa?" ("Where Are We Going, Daddy?") was published in 2008 and won the prestigious Prix Femina literary award. The book details Fournier's experiences raising his two sons, Mathieu and Thomas, who both had severe disabilities.
In addition to his writing, Fournier has directed several documentaries and films for French television. He has also been an advocate for disability rights and served as the president of the French Association for People with Disabilities from 2005 to 2008.
